Czech Rep., Sep 9 (BD) – The daily number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 has been steadily increasing since the end of August. Last week the number rose slightly above 300, and this week the increases are significantly higher. According to data from the Czech Ministry of Health, the cases of infections from SARS-CoV-2 are constantly increasing.
As reported by ČTK press agency, Health Minister Adam Vojtěch had warned that the Czech Republic will soon be hit by a new wave of Covid-19, again coming from the West.
The return of children to school and the population’s wish to return to a normal lifestyle are not the only factors explaining this significant increase in cases. According to Vojtěch, mass movement due to the end of the holiday period is another reason for the increase.
Despite the increase in cases, there has not been an increase in the number of people hospitalized in serious condition. There are currently 96 patients admitted to intensive care. Moreover, three quarters of new confirmed cases are not vaccinated.
For now the situation is still under control, but based on the trend of the epidemiological curve, the Health Ministry will decide at the end of September whether to adopt more restrictive measures.
