Czech Republic, July 26 (BD) – The Interior Ministry has released updated information regarding the migration of refugees from the Ukrainian War. Last week more 446 Ukrainian refugees received temporary protection in the Czech Republic, 37 more than the previous week. 

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, more than 398,000 refugees have been granted visas in the Czech Republic.  While in their host territory, refugees may access public health insurance, education, and the labour market for up to one year. The police do not have to record the stay of children under the age of 15, who comprise almost a third of the total, according to ministry statistics.

Sex of refugees

The exact number of Ukrainian refugees residing in the Czech Republic is unknown; some of them are leaving for other countries or returning to Ukraine. In June, authorities estimated that between 280,000 and 300,000 refugees remained in the Czech Republic.

Age of refugees

Czech Labour Minister Marian Jurečka (KDU-ČSL) said on Wednesday that 92,000 refugees from Ukraine have found jobs in the Czech Republic. He added that they were mainly filling positions that had long been vacant.
