Czech Police To Open Investigation Into Conduct of Presidential Staff Regarding Zeman’s Health

President Miloš Zeman is now unable to fulfill his constitutional duties for health reasons. Although the Chancellor of the Castle, Vratislav Mynář, was aware of this since October 13th, he organized an unauthorized meeting between Zeman and the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies. Czech Rep, Oct 19 (BD) – Czech Police announced on Twitter this morning that they will investigate the matter concerning the behavior of Chancellor Vratislav Mynář, who has been aware of the state of health of President Miloš Zeman since October 13th.

Zeman had been ill for some time, but nevertheless Chancellor Vratislav Mynář, spokesman Jiří Ovčáček and Zeman’s family remained silent about his health condition, releasing ambiguous and contradictory statements.

Furthermore, as alleged by the military hospital in Prague where Zeman has been hospitalized for ten days, Mynář organized an unauthorized meeting between Zeman and the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Radek Vondráček, without the knowledge of the health facility.

The police have therefore announced that they will open an investigation into potential crimes against the Republic.

The military hospital in Prague, on the other hand, was unable to make any statements on the president’s health condition, in accordance with the Health Services Act (§51), which requires the health facility to maintain confidentiality on all facts relating to the provision of health services.
