Brno, Sep 22 (BD) -The Czech Baroque Ensemble will launch its 10th season of Bacha na Mozarta! (Beware Mozart!) this evening with “The Day of the Court”, an opera composed by the Baroque artist Georg Philipp Telemann in 1762. The text was written by the poet, philosopher and theologian Christian Wilhelm Alers, a student of Telemann.
“The Day of the Court” is a four-act oratorio for solos, choir and orchestra, dealing with the main topic of the Last Judgment, but also the themes of death, hell, heaven and universal judgment, analyzing them in a Christian key. This dramatic narration of apocalyptic events, with all its twists and turns, already met with great success at the Znojmo Festival.
The concert will take place in Petrov Cathedral at 7pm.
More info on the program can be found in the Official Page of Czech Baroque Ensemble.
