Zelny Trh Market Fully Reopens, and Will Host MINT Market This Weekend

This week, the market at Zelny Trh will return to normal operation as before the coronavirus outbreak. The final restrictions, such as the ban on ready-to-eat food and the requirement for a seperate table for selling, have been lifted. Brno, Jun 17 (BD) – From this week, the Zelny Trh farmer’s market will return to normal operation as before the anti-coronavirus emergency measures were imposed. After closing completely in March, the farmer’s market was allowed to partially reopen in April, provided both sellers and customers complied with certain regulations.

The restrictions that remained in place included a requirement that sellers use a maximum of two tables, one of them a separate table to hand over goods and payment, and a ban on immediate consumption of bought produce.

“Farmers, sellers and we at the town hall are all glad to relax the rules so Zelny Trh can be full of goods and visitors again. And we are also very happy that customers found their way to the market even when strict rules applied, and thus continued to support our farmers. The situation was really very difficult, because the harvest does not ask first whether the produce can be sold right now or not,” said Ludmila Oulehlova (ANO), the Brno City Councillor responsible for the market at Zelny Trh.

Along with the reopening of the farmers’ market at Zelny Trh comes the announcement that the MINT designer fashion market will return to the city for the second time this year, occupying all three floors of the Trznice on Zelny Trh. On Friday June 19th and Saturday 20th, the Trznice will be full of Czech fashion, accessories, jewellery, designer products, and other original creations. In addition to more than 100 stalls with original products, DJ Martha will provide musical accompaniment, and food and drink will also be available, including all kinds of 100% natural cake from local café ‘I Love Espresso’. Admission to the market will be free.
