Writing on Twitter on Monday evening, Health Minister Adam Vojtech (ANO) announced a new set of regulations for travel within Europe. The new rules place European countries in a so-called traffic light system of red, orange, and green zones, according to their epidemiological situation. Czech Rep., Jun 2 (BD) – From June 15th, Czechs will be allowed to travel to and from several European countries without the requirement of quarantine or a negative Covid-19 test. Tourists entering the country from those places will also not need a test. For those travelling from countries whose epidemiological situation has not improved sufficiently, tests will still be required, with a slightly stricter regime for tourists.
“From June 15th, we can start travelling around Europe. The government has approved a system that designates safe countries for travel. The colours on the map indicate the severity of covid development in the country,” wrote Health Minister Adam Vojtech on Twitter on Monday evening.
The system categorizes the countries of the EEA (European Economic Area) into green, orange, and red zones, with different travel regulatory regimes. Negotiations are continuing with countries outside the EEA to allow travel to resume.
Green Zone
Nobody will need a test when travelling to/from Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, or Switzerland. This applies to Czech citizens, foreigners with Czech residence, and tourists.
Orange Zone
Foreigners without Czech residence will need a negative Covid-19 test when entering from Belgium, Denmark, France, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, or they must enter quarantine for 14 days. Czechs and residents will be able to enter test-free without quarantine.
Red Zone
Everyone will need a negative Covid-19 test when entering from the United Kingdom or Sweden, or they must enter quarantine for 14 days.
These designations will be updated to reflect the developing situation, according to Foreign Minister Tomas Petricek, with the latest information available on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website. He added that local restrictions in other countries will continue to apply, so travel to some areas may still not be possible.
