French Electronic Music Icon Vitalic Returns To Brno With New Project, KOMPROMAT

The French DJ and producer broke out last decade with the “Poney” EP and his landmark album “OK Cowboy”, which featured some of the most recognisable club tracks of the era. Now he has teamed up with a new collaborator, Rebeka Warrior, for a new project called Kompromat, landing at Fleda on Friday November 29th. Photo credit: KOMPROMAT.

Brno, Nov 26 (BD) – French electronic music artist Vitalic, real name Pascal Arbez-Nicolas, is among the most iconic names in 21st century electronic music, synonymous with the highly-regarded French electro scene of the 2000s. Many of his tracks, such as “La Rock 01”, “My Friend Dario”, and “Poison Lips”, became fixtures on dancefloors around the world. Now he is back with a new project, a collaboration with musician and singer Rebeka Warrior, entitled KOMPROMAT, incorporating modular synth and post-punk influences and the spirit of early Berlin techno. The duo will perform at Fleda Club on Friday November 29th.

According to the event press release: “The KOMPROMAT project fulfils a dream for the French dance icon Vitalic. The renowned producer and multi-instrumentalist threw away all barriers, and after years of spinning mysterious musical plans, he found the right partner for their realisation. Collaborating with musician Rebeka Warrior, the pair created the electronic project KOMPROMAT. They offer an uncompromising and mysterious audio-visual narrative, steeped in retro-futurism.”

KOMPROMAT’s first full-length release, “Traum und Existenz” [“Dream and Existence”], was released in April this year, and their appearance in below coincides with the release of a new EP, “Le Brigand et Le Prince” [“The Robber and the Prince”], which dropped last Friday, November 22nd, on the Clivage Music label. In homage to the German electronic music heritage that informs KOMPROMAT’s sound and lyrics, the EP includes a cover of the classic electropunk anthem “Der Rauber und der Prinz” by Deutsche Amerikanische Freundschaft (D.A.F.), from which the EP takes its name. According to Rebeka Warrior: ““We chose to cover a track by D.A.F. because Gabi Delgado-Lopez and Robert Görl (aka D.A.F) represent what brings us together music-wise. Vitalic and I listen to very different types of music, and D.A.F is where our two worlds collide.”

Vitalic broke out in the early years of this century with the “Poney” EP, released on DJ Hell’s International DeeJay Gigolo Records in 2001. His first LP, “OK Cowboy” (2005) was a landmark of the decade’s electro movement, a natural symbiosis of dark electro with crowd-pleasing pop club hits. He has released four studio albums since then, most recently “Voyager” (2017). Vitalic and Rebeka Warrior’s first artistic collaboration was in 2012, when she provided guest vocals on his track “La Mort sur le Dancefloor.”

Support will be provided by Czech electro group Space Love.

Tickets cost CZK 440 + booking fee and are available from SMS tickets or in person at Hostel Eleven, Dominikánská 11.
