“We cordially invite you to the opening concert of Filharmonie Brno LAUNCHING THE SEASON WITH ELISABETH LEONSKAJA, which offers an impressive and varied program on Thursday at the Stadion hall (Babylon cultural centre), on September 19 at 7pm.”
In the first half of the evening, you will hear Brahms’ first symphony, which was written over almost fourteen years and is known as “Beethoven’s Tenth”. The orchestra will be led by Dennis Russell Davies, starting his second season in Brno as chief conductor and artistic director.
We welcome on stage Elisabeth Leonskaja, a follower of the great tradition of the Russian piano school. She will perform Bartók’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with a brilliant solo part. A work full of nostalgia and love, it is one of the most played piano concertos of the 20th century.
Closing the gala evening will be the seven-minute “DA.MA.SHI.E”, by the world-famous composer Joe Hisaishi, a close collaborator of Hayao Miyazaki, the legendary animated film director. You may know Hisaishi’s music from films such as “Journey to Fantasy”, “Princess Mononoke” or “Castle in the Clouds”.
Last minute discounts of 1 + 1 (ie. 50% discount on each ticket) are available in the Filharmonie Brno ticket office on Besední, in the House of Lords of Lipé (Dům pánů z Lipé) on nám. Svobody, and at the venue before the concert with the discount code “64”.
