Brno, Jun 3 (BD) – The turn of May and June will see the return of a festival for young musicians in South Moravia. The Brno Philharmonic, in cooperation with an elementary art school, ZUŠ Smetanova 8, will attempt to show the beauty of music to children and young students, through a variety of activities. The annual “Young Mozarts” Festival (loosely translated “Mozartovy děti”) takes place for the tenth time this year.
The “Young Mozarts” program includes educational workshops and lectures that aim to develop the musical perception of young listeners, as well as numerous public performances by pupils from South Moravian music schools in Brno squares and other venues, including prestigious concerts in the Besední dům. The main event of the month is a gala concert where the “Young Mozarts”, pupils of elementary art schools, will sit with members of the Brno Philharmonic and perform the symphonic music together.
On 16th June, the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra with “Young Mozarts” will perform the popular Musorgskij´s Pictures from the exhibition and compositions by Mozart and Rossini. The concert will take place in Bobycentrum under the baton of chief conductor Dennis Russell Davies. In the evening, first movement of Haydn’s Piano Concerto in D major will be performed by 12-year-old Jan Schulmeister, the overall winner of the Amadeus international piano competition 2017.
