A busy week full of events awaits us in Brno. From art to food and drink, passing by sport, reading or relaxing, everyone can find an event which is suitable!
All art lovers are waiting for the beginning of Brno Art Week. 66 events are scheduled from Tuesday the 23rd of April to Sunday the 28th of April. On Friday and on Saturday, Open Studios open the doors of Brno-based artistic ateliers and studios. You can also meet Hattie Wragg, the British artist, of the eco-friendly jewellery exhibition named “New Mythology” at Industra, on April 26 from 5 to 7 PM. The exhibition features photography, found objects and recycled silver jewellery. The artist uses non-toxic alternatives to the usual chemicals for her artwork.
As a Spanish speaker or Spanish learner, you could be interested in the free-of-charge reading club in Spanish which takes place every Tuesday from 6 to 7 PM. You will find further details on the official Facebook event.
On April 24, it’s the last chance for you to enjoy yoga with baby goats! This unusual event takes place in Lamacentrum and is animated by an experienced yoga practitioner from Mumbai. According to organizers, “Yoga with goats brings joy and helps people to relax”. Booking for your spot will be necessary; you can find more info on the Facebook event.
If you like biking, the big spring cycling ride of pedaling Brno (Velká jarní cyklojízda doby šlapací Brno) will start at Moravian square on April 25 at 6 PM in front of Scala cinema.
For beer lovers, two events are happening in Brno this week: the beer festival at Freedom square (Náměstí Svobody) from April 24 to April 27, and the 147th anniversary of the Zubr brewery on April 26. The beer festival will welcome breweries from Czech Republic but also from foreign countries. You can find more on the Facebook event. The Zubr brewery opens its doors in Přerov – one hour and a half away from Brno by train – the unique occasion to taste a beer just fresh from production. Taste the world (Ochutnej svět) will make you discover world cuisine on Friday 26 April and Saturday 27 April at Malá Amerika. This event is the opportunity to revive your taste buds and to have a good moment with your friends. Tickets and more info available on their website or on the Facebook event.
On Saturday the 27th, come to the Brno City Market Hall (Brno Tržnice) for the Brno Expat Fair. It’s the opportunity to collect multiple information about living in the city and a list of English-friendly places and services. You can also participate to different workshops and enjoy the afterparty from 6 PM to 10 PM. Get your free ticket, check out the programme and the exhibitors on their official website.
The Histo Cup 2019 is back to Brno Circuit! The championship of classic cars will take place on April 27 and April 28. Your ears will enjoy the sound of iconic sports cars’ engines from the second half of the 20th century, and you can experience the Jaguar XJS and American muscle cars. Tickets are available online or at the cash desk, and cost CZK 100.
Until April 28, you can still take part in the Alliance Française’s events in the “Bonjour Brno” Festival. You can find the program in Czech here. Theatre, dance and circus representations, street-art events and a pétanque tournament are organized!
