Bonjour Brno comes to Kino Art
Bonjour Brno, the ‘festival of francophonie’ that takes place from April 12 to April 22, is presenting a collection of films to be screened at Brno’s Kino Art on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Photo: Festival Bonjour Brno
Brno, Apr 18 (BD) – The films focus on women, especially those behind the camera, and the selection is varied: Anne Fontaine has made a drama about nuns who have been raped (Agnus dei); Catherine Corsini tells the story of love between two feminists (Summer); Julia Ducornau is not afraid of the horror of a vegetarian who discovers the taste of meat (Raw); Claire Denis tries to find a romantic match for Juliette Binoche’s character in Bright Sunshine In; and lastly, Céline Sciamma shot the life of a gang of girls (Girl’s Gang).
Unfortunately, if you are not Czech or French, or at least a French speaker, the screenings will not be suitable for you as there are no subtitles in English provided.
However, one language that is universal is music, and everyone is welcome to Saturday’s (April 21) concert. You can look forward to the rhythms of Africa’s Maghreb region by French musicians IFA Trio & Bal Pygmée at Mendlovo nám. 1 from 7pm.
