Berlin, June 15 (CTK) – A number of German media mention the fresh decision of Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka to leave the post of chairman of the Social Democratic Party (CSSD) and their comments are mostly based on the report of the German news agency Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa).

The CSSD pulled the emergency brake only for months before the general election, dpa writes and it briefly describes the three main figures – Sobotka, CSSD new acting chairman Milan Chovanec and the party’s new election leader Lubomir Zaoralek.

Last night, Sobotka announced that Interior Minister Chovanec will lead the party instead of him and Foreign Minister Zaoralek would replace him in the role of election leader.

Nobody believed anymore that Sobotka, whom his critics label “a grey mouse,” could stop the plummeting of the election preferences of the senior government CSSD, Deutsche Presse-Agentur writes.

Chovanec is considered a hardliner in rejecting refugees and a fan of rifles who pushed through the Czech complaint challenging the EU firearms directive, Deutsche Presse-Agentur writes.

Zaoralek also criticises the EU refugee policy, but he seems to be more diplomatic, being the Czech foreign minister, dpa writes, adding that Zaoralek had very good relations with his former counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the current German president.
